On June 1st, the Department of Performing Arts - Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued decision No. 215/QQĐ-NTBD revoking the permission to organize the 'Miss Vietnam Sea Queen 2013' pageant, scheduled to be held on June 9th in Nha Trang city, as part of the Nha Trang Sea Festival - Khanh Hoa 2013.
This decision was made after the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism sent a working delegation to inspect Nha Trang on May 31st.
The reason for canceling this pageant is due to multiple irregularities during the preliminary rounds. The organizing committee did not adhere to the regulations stated in Government Decree No. 79/2012/ND-CP dated October 5, 2012, regarding artistic performances, fashion shows, beauty contests, and modeling competitions.

Specifically, out of the 40 contestants selected for the next round (finals), 4 contestants did not submit registration documents, 8 contestants submitted registration forms but did not include the required documents, and 1 contestant submitted a registration form without signing it and without the required accompanying documents.
The organizing committee failed to provide scorecards for contestants and a summary of scores for the contestants selected for the next round.

The preliminary selection event took place in three locations: Hanoi (on May 18), Ho Chi Minh City (on May 24), and Nha Trang City (on May 26). There was no establishment of a judging panel and no issuance of operational regulations or grading criteria by the judging panel. Following the completion of the preliminary round, the organizing committee issued a decision to establish the judging panel on May 28, 2013. There was no semifinal round as stipulated in the competition project.
On the evening of June 1, Mr. Truong Dang Tuyen, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa Province, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Nha Trang Sea Festival Steering Committee - Khanh Hoa 2013, stated: The People's Committee of Khanh Hoa Province and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province have agreed to exclude the final round of the competition from this Sea Festival program immediately upon receiving the above-mentioned decision from the Department of Performing Arts.

In the afternoon of June 1, 40 contestants participating in the final round of the 'Miss Vietnam Sea' competition arrived at Hon Tam Tourist Area (MerPerle), Nha Trang City, to attend the First Day of the Disabled Youth and prepare for the competition activities. They were still unaware of the aforementioned decision by the Department of Performing Arts.
