Just a few months after the release of Ubuntu 18.04, Canonical introduces Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS, the first minor release. Users running Ubuntu 16.04 will be notified to upgrade to the new version.

Discussing the issue of upgrading to the new version for Ubuntu 16.04 users, Canonical's CEO, Will Cooke, mentioned that the first minor LTS release was issued 3 months after Ubuntu 18.04 was released.

This is also the time when the company allows users to upgrade from previous LTS releases. If you're running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, you'll be notified to upgrade to version 18.04 LTS.

If you've already installed Ubuntu 18.04, all you need to do is update to version 18.04.1 when available. The 18.04.1 release is more stable than the April 18.04 release, with no major changes in this new release. Download Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS here.
