Today (02/07) at Cafe Mytour, an engaging workshop by Hafoto unfolded, guiding enthusiasts on the art of utilizing Speedlight Flash for creative portrait photography. The session aimed to instruct fellow photographers on employing Speedlight in various lighting scenarios.
Attendees of Anh Hà's workshop are likely familiar with his tendency to prioritize sharing theories at the beginning of each session. More often than not, these consist of anecdotes from his memorable moments in the photography industry.
In the old days, Anh used to capture images without the array of supplementary equipment available today. The primary source of light for photography was mainly the camera-mounted speedlight. It was during this period that he gained a deep understanding of the techniques for capturing portrait photos with a speedlight under various conditions (environmental factors, shooting angles, distances, and more).

Anh also shares an experience of going out to shoot without carrying the studio gear but still managing to capture remarkable shots. According to him, any room can transform into a studio when we know how to utilize lighting from Speedlight and Ambient light effectively.
Anh Hà poses some questions to the members, and whoever provides the closest accurate answers stands a chance to receive a special gift.
Anh Hà initiates inviting a model for a live demonstration using speedlight for the audience.
He illustrates instances of previous flawed or incomplete shots, notably those overexposed. According to Anh Hà, overexposure can be the 'savior' for a photograph.
Guiding on how to disperse light sources for more harmonious and even portrait shots. Mainly focusing on the distance between the speedlight source and the reflector to achieve the desired balance.

After the hands-on session, Anh Hà provides additional examples of various photos he has taken over the years. Each captured image involves a distinct light handling approach, primarily mastering the light intensity and exposure technique of the photograph.
Anh offers advice for those aspiring to delve into professional photography, suggesting the importance of having a support team to enhance the completeness and adequacy of the photo session. For instance, assistance in holding reflectors, adding light sources from additional lamps, and more.
There are plans for numerous photography workshops by Hafoto on Saturdays at Cafe Mytour, covering various photography themes. Looking forward to meeting you all in the upcoming sessions! 😃
