Terraced fields on hillsides, in valleys, and across plains create stunning picturesque landscapes.
1. Banaue Terraces, Philippines
The Banaue Terraces, recognized by UNESCO as one of the world's great heritage sites, is approximately a 10-hour drive from Manila. Formed 2,000 years ago by the hands of Batad farmers, it's the 8th wonder of the world.

In the past, these terraces were used for the largest rice terracing in the area, but later fell into disuse. Today, the terraces have been restored to their former glory. While in Banaue, visitors can explore the Bangaan villages at the foot of the hills. The best time to visit the terraces is from December to May.
2. Yuangyang Terraces, China
Modernization is gradually encroaching into China, and terraced fields across the country are slowly being destroyed. Travelers from Shanghai to Tibet can witness these terraced fields resembling incredibly beautiful natural landscapes.

The Yuangyang Terraces were crafted by the skilled hands of the Hami people. This is the most attractive spot in Xinjiezhen town. To admire these terraces from every angle, you can stand on a hilltop and look down. The best time to visit the terraces is from October to April.
3. Longji Terraces, China
Located in the northeast of Guangxi Province, near Jinkerg Village and Ping. The Longji Terraces were formed 800 years ago during the Yuan Dynasty in China. The terraces resemble an ancient painting created by the skilled hands of farmers. You can visit and admire this place at any time of the year, except from December to March, when the weather here is cold and snowy.

To reach the terraces, it takes 2 hours from Longsheng town and 12 hours from Nanning. But this 14-hour journey will help you discover many mysteries of these terraces.
4. Terraced Fields on Bali Island, Indonesia
Upon arrival in beautiful Bali, tourists not only witness beaches and hills but also indulge in terraced fields. Though not as expansive as those in China or the Philippines, these terraced fields boast a variety of fragrant plants. The predominant aroma here is the scent of cloves and cinnamon grown on the hills.

Travelers should plan their trip to Bali from late November to early April. The resort atop Alila Ubud hill and the pool overlooking the terraced fields are fantastic places to relax and unwind.
