Alongside the release of the new 3D Camera mode, the company also introduces various 3D effects that users can choose by swiping the Filter Carousel. These effects interact with the 3D images, making them more intriguing. If you want to preserve the newly created 3D photo, you can save it in the camera roll and use it whenever you like.
Discussing this, Andrew McPhee - Senior Manager at Snap Inc. stated that with the new depth and interaction features, photos/videos on Snapchat will appear more realistic, providing a heightened sense of detail. Alongside the new 3D effects, this feature introduces a new layer of expression, bringing images/videos on Snapchat closer to reality.
According to Snap Inc., the only devices capable of creating images with such effects are iPhone X and newer models. Consequently, other Android or iOS devices can only receive and view complete images. The company also declares its plan to expand this feature to other devices. However, it remains unclear if they will extend support to older devices. Using Snapchat is poised to become more exciting than ever.
