Instagram has been around for quite a while and boasts over 50 million members worldwide. Let's delve into this software and explore its features.
Step 1: Download and install Instagram
- Instagram for Android
- Instagram for iOS
Step 2: Initiate an account for usage, performed directly within the software. The required details include email, user-chosen username, password, and optional phone number.
Step 3: Instagram will scan your contacts and Facebook for friends.
Step 4: Home is where all the images uploaded by you and the people you follow are gathered. Beneath each image are three buttons: 1 - like; 2 - leave a comment; 3 - additional information.
Step 5: Popular (Star icon) compiles beautiful, randomly appearing images. Every time you access it, the content is different. Click on an image, and if you like it, you can follow the photographer.
Step 6: Whenever someone comments or likes your photo, a notification appears in the News section. If someone follows you, the notification is also displayed here. In the News section, you will find two tabs: Following and You. Following shows all activities of the people you follow, such as their liked photos, comments, and newly uploaded images. The You tab displays information related to you, such as who has recently commented or liked your photos and who has just started following you.
Step 7: The last tab can be considered your personal page. Accessing it allows you to review all the photos you've uploaded, view them in a small grid or large images arranged in a list. Additionally, it provides statistics on how many people are following you (followers) and a list of people you are following. Click on each item to see details and remove followers or following that you no longer wish to be connected with.

Step 8: In the top right corner is the software's configuration section. The options are as follows:
- Find friends: search for friends. This function will scan through your contacts, on Facebook, or Twitter. You can also find people by entering their username.
- Photos you’ve liked: lists the scenes you've liked from past to present.
- Edit profile: edit personal information. In this section, if you scroll down, there is a Push Notification adjustment. If you don't want to be bothered by notifications, you need to come here and turn it off.
- Edit sharing settings: after capturing photos, besides uploading to Instagram, they will be shared through Facebook, Foursquare, or Twitter, and you can adjust these options here.
- Photo Privacy: Will the photos you upload be shared widely or only viewable by friends? If you choose 'photos are private' here, it means only friends can view them, and anyone who wants to follow you will need your approval after sending a follow request.
