1. Capture Square Photos Using the Camera
For iPhone and iPad devices, photo modes are often hidden to maximize screen space for other areas.
Step 1: Open the Camera app on your phone.
Step 2: Next, tap on the More (Arrow) icon to view all the photo capture modes.
Step 3: Then, tap on the 4:3 icon. On iPhone and iPad, 4:3 is the aspect ratio Apple defaults to, but we will adjust it to 1:1 later.

Step 4: After tapping on the 4:3 icon, you'll see a range of different photo capture modes appear.
Here, choose the Square mode to capture photos.

2. How to crop a photo into a square shape after capturing
If you forget to switch to the square photo mode while capturing, don't worry. You can intervene using the Edit feature in Photos.
Step 1: Open the image you want to crop into a square shape and select the Edit option.

Step 2: In photo editing mode, select Edit Rotate/ Crop.

Step 3: To crop the photo into a square shape, choose the Crop tool in the top right corner of the screen.

Step 4: In photo cropping mode, simply select the 1:1 crop ratio, and the image will turn into a square. Then, you can move the image to select the content for the frame.

Step 5: Select Done to save the image to your phone and finish the process.
