ASUS unveils Cloud Gaming Chromebook model (Image: ASUS)ASUS has unveiled a range of new laptops at CES 2023, including two powerful ChromeOS models. Alongside the new Chromebox 5 supporting Qi, ASUS has introduced the new Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip tailored for the cloud gaming market.
The Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip is a touchscreen laptop that can convert like most others in this segment, but it's the internal specifications that truly set the machine apart. The top-end model will feature a 12th-gen Intel Core i7 processor and Iris Xe GPU paired with 16 GB of RAM and a 512 GB SSD.
The Vibe CX34 Flip boasts a 14-inch screen with a record-breaking 144 Hz refresh rate for Chromebooks at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels, and the device can also output 4K images via the HDMI 2.1 port.
The system of the new Chromebook is complemented by a range of features to enhance the cloud gaming experience. The laptop is equipped with an RGB backlit keyboard and orange accented WASD keys, as well as Wi-Fi 6E for stable connections and low latency.
There still lingers some skepticism surrounding cloud gaming, especially with the unveiling of Vibe CX34 Flip just 2 weeks prior to Google's announced closure of Stadia, the cloud gaming service for ChromeOS.
However, the cloud gaming market continues to thrive despite this, with ASUS even including free trial versions for both Nvidia GeForce Now and Amazon Luna. And of course, there's always Xbox Cloud Gaming, a platform that has just received a major upgrade on Chromebook.
ASUS has yet to disclose the pricing as well as the official release date of the Chromebook Vibe CX34 Flip.
