1. Formation and development history of the Lo Pan ruler:
Originally, when first formed, the Lo Pan ruler was just a wooden ruler, rough in shape and only about 42.9 cm long. It was observed during measurements that using this ruler would be challenging for objects of either too large or too small sizes. Thus, to meet the increasing demands and to enhance convenience for users, the Lo Pan ruler has undergone continuous improvement over time, becoming increasingly refined in terms of shape, material, size, and specifications.
Today, the Lo Pan ruler is much smaller and lighter than before, with a length that can extend up to 5m. The material used for the ruler is thin, flexible metal, making it easy to extend and carry around.
2. Characteristics of the Lo Pan ruler:
As you can see, there are numerous red and black marks interspersed on the measuring tape. The significance of these red and black marks originates from Yin-Yang principles and feng shui, where red marks are auspicious while black marks are inauspicious.
However, upon closer observation, the measuring tape is divided into two rows. Consequently, some positions fall into the auspicious upper row while the lower row may be inauspicious, and vice versa. Therefore, when measuring any object, attention should be paid to both the upper and lower rows to select the most auspicious dimensions.
