Chambord Castle, also known as the Royal Castle of Chambord, situated in Loir-et-Cher, France. The castle was constructed by King François I but was never completed. One aspect of building the castle was to be close to Comtesse de Thoury - his mistress, and Claude Rohan, the wife of Julien de Clermont - a significant member of a renowned family in France.

This structure offers a glimpse into a different world. At the heart of Chambord stands a massive building with four imposing towers at each corner. It's known as the 'dungeon' and is reminiscent of medieval castles, a symbol of military power.
Chambord features a massive main building with four grand towers at each corner @shutterstockA grand double helix staircase winds through the center of the conservation area to reach the glass ceiling and serves as the entrance to the rooftop walkway. Each staircase describes a 360-degree turn between each floor, allowing two people, one ascending each staircase, to see each other but never meet.
Magnificent Double Helix Staircase @shutterstockThe staircase, if not Leonardo's original idea, could have been a feature of the original model created by Domenico da Cortona. Then, once again, it may have been inspired by the work of Italian architect Giuliano da Sangallo (circa 1545-1516 CE). Other features inspired by Italian castles include classical decorative window frames, motifs, and moldings that give the exterior facade a high-profile look on all four sides.

The castle was never permanently furnished according to the seasonal stays of the kings. The layout of the castle followed the movements of their sovereignty and their guests.
