Check SMART using command prompt
This is the quickest way to check the SMART system without installing any additional software or needing an internet connection on your computer. You can use a few commands within Windows.
First, click the Start button at the bottom left corner of the screen, then choose All Programs ->Accessories ->Command Prompt to open CMD.
In the Command Prompt window, type the following CMD commands one by one:
“wmic”
Next, type the command “diskdrive get status”
When the screen displays OK at the end, everything on your hard drive is normal. If it's different from OK, your hard drive is experiencing issues.
