Chiba Prefecture is an intriguing tourist spot in Japan with its highway over the sea, samurai houses, and numerous parks and gardens.
Explore Japan by Visiting Chiba, Where Flowers Bloom Year-Round
Apart from the well-known destinations like Tokyo, Kyoto, or Osaka, traveling in Japan also includes Chiba. Bordering the sea, Chiba has a mild climate with flowers blooming all year round. It is home to Tokyo Disneyland – the largest amusement park in Japan, and the famous highway over the sea known worldwide.
Traveling in Japan, visitors can come to Chiba at any time of the year. In spring, Chiba boasts fields of rapeseed flowers, tulips, and irises along the Kominato railway; this is also the season for strawberry picking in the famous city of Sammu. In summer, tourists often flock to Tateyama, the Isumi railway, and Naritasan Shinshoji temple to admire cherry blossoms. In autumn, sunflowers at Narita Dream Farm start to bloom. The end of the year marks the characteristic maple leaf season in the Land of the Rising Sun.
Additionally, Chiba also has many attractive tourist spots that are lesser-known, such as: Sakura – the city of samurai with the Hotta ancestral home, where ancient samurai used to live. Narita is considered the city of pilgrimages with the historic Omotesando street leading to Naritasan Shinshoji temple. The fishing town – Choshi is famous for the Tokawa fishing port, which is also the largest soy sauce production area in Japan.

To experience the culture, you can visit the Boso-no-Mura open-air museum to embark on a journey back in time to the Edo period (1603 – 1867). This is also where traditional activities are often held such as tea ceremonies, candle making, or making cup holders from tatami mats... In the costume room, visitors can rent samurai or ninja costumes for photos.
Banya Marine Park is one of the fascinating spots for exploring Japanese fishing culture. Tours are usually organized in the early morning, and visitors must book at least two days in advance and are served breakfast with sashimi. Chiba's specialties include fresh seafood, ramen noodles, eel, and peanuts.

Chiba also boasts many ancient shrines and temples such as Naritasan Shinsoji Temple, Katori Jingu Shrine. Hot spring baths (onsen) are a must-try experience in Japan, and Chiba Prefecture has some very special hot springs such as Inubosaki with baths overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Yoro Keikoku Onsenkyo is located in a hilly area, upstream of Yoko with its strange black water.
Getting around Chiba Prefecture is quite convenient, with a train system that passes through most of the famous spots. There are daily direct flights from Noi Bai Airport, Tan Son Nhat Airport to Narita International Airport in Chiba Prefecture.
