In order to improve the image of Chinese tourists, the National Tourism Administration of China has just launched the “Civilized Tourism” guidebook. Accordingly, picking noses in public places is also listed as a prohibited action.
On October 2nd, the National Tourism Administration of China released the 64-page “Civilized Tourism” guidebook. The book stipulates what should and should not be done by the citizens of this country when traveling. The rules call on Chinese tourists to behave in a “civilized” manner. These strict regulations were announced just as China entered a long national holiday period, when many people travel around.
Among them, Chinese tourists are not allowed to pick their noses in public places, urinate in swimming pools, steal life jackets on airplanes, occupy toilets for too long, or take too much food when dining buffet-style. Additionally, tourists must observe orderliness in public places and respect social ethics while participating in tourist activities, respecting local customs, cultural traditions, and religious beliefs.
Many people support the guidebook and believe that tourists are also representatives of the nation when traveling around the world, so they need to behave properly. Additionally, the book provides a lot of useful information to help Chinese citizens integrate better with local people when traveling abroad. However, many express doubts about whether Chinese tourists will comply with the regulations in the guidebook.
