Answer:
For the scenario mentioned above, you can proceed with either of the following two methods:
Method 1: Use PowerPoint 2003 to open:
- Start PowerPoint 2003
- Click on File ---> Open (Ctrl + O)
This will enable you to open PowerPoint files in PowerPoint 2003
Method 2: Customization in Regedit:
From the Start Menu, select Run, type Regedit. Locate 2 keys
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\W PowerPoint\Options
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Options
Then go to New --> DWORD Value with the name ‘NoRereg’, set the value to 1
- Note
- - If you create this value in both keys, .pptx files will be opened by PowerPoint 2013, while .ppt files will be opened by PowerPoint 2003.
- - If you create the value in the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\PowerPoint\Options, both file types will be opened by PowerPoint 2013.
