(Motherland) - Chovy shares his insights into possible scenarios in LCK Spring 2023.
Following the conclusion of the 2022 World Championship, Chovy emerged as one of the most talked-about players. However, his performance fell short of expectations.
Chovy himself has yet to demonstrate the maturity expected by fans, especially after leaving Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) and his close senior, Deft, to join Gen.G. Despite clinching his first LCK championship, losing the highly anticipated 2022 World Championship title was a disappointment for Chovy, his teammates, and Gen.G fans alike.
However, Chovy recognizes his shortcomings. In a recent interview, he humbly assesses Gen.G's potential in the upcoming season. Specifically, he shared, 'Both T1, HLE, DWG KIA (DK) have shown great strength. KT Rolster has also made significant reinforcements. I think 2023 will be highly competitive. While I haven't scrimmaged or played with their new lineup, I believe Gen.G could secure 3rd place. But even finishing 4th wouldn't be smooth sailing. It might be tough to drop to 4th, but we could definitely stumble.'
Excluding T1, the teams mentioned by Chovy have made noteworthy roster additions. Particularly, HLE has recruited several new players, notably Zeka, Kingen, and Viper - former world champions. Meanwhile, Gen.G has parted ways with the talented bot lane duo Ruler - Lehends. Hence, Chovy's assessment is well-founded.
Certainly, not every star-studded lineup can secure victory. However, Chovy himself must truly prove his worth, especially as he enters his 6th year of professional play. With Ruler no longer by his side, Chovy must now become the cornerstone of Gen.G, as audiences have expected of him over the past few years.
