Despite Faker's status as the most accomplished player in the League of Legends scene, he seems to fall short to Chovy in one particular aspect.
The clash between T1 and Gen.G, anticipated more than the recent KT Rolster and T1 match, lived up to the expectations. These two teams have been closely competing in each season for quite some time now. As of now, Gen.G holds a slight advantage with crucial victories over T1. The match on 12/08 (Vietnam time) marked another triumph for Gen.G against Faker and his teammates.

With the win against T1, Gen.G officially becomes the first LCK team to qualify for the 2023 World Championship. In this Worlds edition, the LCK representatives, especially T1 and Gen.G, will be closely watched, considering Faker and his teammates also secure a spot. Both teams faced defeat in the recent MSI against LPL representatives. With the Worlds hosted on home turf, the LCK representatives cannot afford to lose, especially against the LPL. T1, in particular, has a history of 'not being able to qualify for Worlds at home.' This is a scenario no LCK or T1 fan wants to witness again.

In addition, with the qualification for the 2023 Worlds, Chovy joins the list of players who have participated in five consecutive World Championships. Notably, Chovy achieved this feat with four different teams from 2019 to the present. The teams Chovy represented in the Worlds include Griffin (2019), DRX (2020), Hanwha Life Esports (2021), and Gen.G (2022 and 2023).

Chovy's achievement surpasses even Faker. T1's Midlaner couldn't establish a record like his younger counterpart. In 2014, Faker missed the Worlds held in Seoul, South Korea, marking an unwanted record for SKT T1/T1 whenever Worlds took place in the land of kimchi. It was the only year Faker couldn't attend Worlds from 2013 to 2017.

At the current juncture, Gen.G indeed appears somewhat weaker compared to last year. Nevertheless, they remain a formidable force, showcasing their strength in the encounter against T1. In this journey, Chovy continues to be a pivotal nucleus, crucial for Gen.G's championship-contending prowess.
