Chovy appears to still struggle with his spirits post-Worlds 2023.
If one were to pinpoint the most disappointing player at Worlds 2023, many would think of Chovy first. Gen.G's Mid Laner truly lacked standout moments. The rare match where he somewhat shone was against T1. Excluding the easy win against GAM Esports, the victory against T1 stood out as Chovy and Gen.G's highlight of the Worlds.

However, it's Chovy's recent failure that truly warrants attention. Specifically, during the off-season as teams and players prepare for the 2024 season, Gen.G participated in the Shanghai Master 2023 tournament. This friendly tournament featured various Esports disciplines. Alongside Gen.G, two LPL teams, Edward Gaming and Bilibili Gaming, and one PCS representative, CBTC Flying Oyster, were present.

As an off-season tournament, teams typically integrate many Challenger or Academy players to learn and train under experienced veterans. For Gen.G, two players, Chovy and Peyz, participated, with Chovy taking on the Top Lane position, a role he's quite familiar with.

However, Chovy once again faced defeat, this time against EDG, a team that struggled across both main and substitute rosters in the past year. Moreover, Chovy failed to outshine even the young stars on the opposing side, despite facing a relatively unknown player, Solokill, alongside him in the match. Witnessing Chovy's failure, many spectators expressed confusion as he could have rested but chose to participate in a 'pointless' tournament, only to suffer further psychological impact.

However, there are many opinions suggesting that this is just a friendly tournament and Chovy along with his teammates may not be overly concerned about the results. Nevertheless, nobody knows the current state of Chovy's emotions and spirits. Especially after an unsuccessful Worlds, he hasn't had a break, especially considering there are reports that the opening match of the Spring 2024 LCK season will be against the reigning world champions, T1.
