Before propelling Christian Bale to global fame, the role of a serial killer in “American Psycho” was once turned down by Leonardo DiCaprio. For this reason, the Dark Knight always feels indebted to the 'Titanic' star for his career.
In an interview with GQ magazine in November, Christian Bale surprised everyone by declaring that he and other actors of his age in Hollywood owe their careers to Leonardo DiCaprio. According to him, many people have become famous because DiCaprio wasn't interested in those roles.

He revealed that DiCaprio has always been the top priority for directors and producers.
“No matter what people tell you or how friendly you are with the directors, it doesn't matter. Everyone I've worked with multiple times, they've offered him the roles before me. One of my friends said the same thing. So, thank you, Leo. He's been selected for every role he's been involved in literally. Good for him. He's extraordinary,” the 48-year-old actor said.
According to GQ, Christian Bale missed out on at least 5 roles, including Titanic, to DiCaprio in the 1990s. However, the Batman Begins actor is not bitter as he acknowledges the talent of his colleague. “Do you know how grateful I feel every time I'm invited to participate in film projects? What I mean is I can't do what he does. I also want to have the allure he has. He's achieved that wonderfully,” he expressed.
Both Christian Bale and Leonardo DiCaprio began their acting careers as teenagers. Despite being less than a year apart and entering the film industry more than 7 years later, DiCaprio rose to fame earlier. He landed his first lead role in This Boy's Life (1993), gaining public recognition through
Meanwhile, Bale had to wait for over a decade to gain widespread recognition with his portrayal of the serial killer Patrick Bateman in the dark comedy film American Psycho (2000). Interestingly, director Mary Harron's initial choice was the star of Once Upon A Time In Hollywood.

Although achieving fame later, Bale reached the Oscar dream earlier than his younger counterpart by 5 years. He received the prestigious golden statue from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his role as the boxer Dicky Eklund in the biographical film The Fighter in 2010, while DiCaprio had to wait until The Revenant in 2015.
Christian Bale's latest role is as the villain Gorr the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), released on 7/8/2022.
