The screen capture tool has been available on Chrome for Android for a while, and now Google is adding a similar feature to Chrome for Windows 11, Windows 10, macOS, and ChromeOS. While the feature may seem similar to Web Capture on the Edge browser, Google's implementation is somewhat better.
Google Chrome adds screen capture tool on Windows and other platforms
Specifically, the Web Capture screen capture tool on the Edge browser only allows users to utilize the Windows Inking feature to edit screen images. In contrast, the screen capture tool on Chrome is integrated as part of the Share menu, enabling opening screen images in a separate window with various editing functions such as changing brush size, selecting brush or pen type, color, adding text, and even cropping screen images, ..., as you can see in the screenshot below:

Users can activate this tool from the flags menu, however, the editing page will immediately hang when capturing screen images. Below are the detailed steps:
Step 1: Download Chrome Canary or Chromium.
- Download Chrome Canary
- Download Chromium
Step 2: Next, enter chrome://flags in the browser address bar.
Step 3: Find and activate 2 flags: Desktop Screenshots and Desktop Screenshots Edit Mode.
Step 4: Restart the browser.
After completion, users can easily capture browser screen images by clicking the Share button on the Omnibox toolbar, selecting the desired screen capture location, and copying the image to the clipboard. The screen image will be saved to the clipboard and can be pasted into any application like MS Paint.

In addition to the new screen capture tool, Chrome for Windows 11 has also received an update to support modern scrollbars. Microsoft is also working with Google to bring Fluent scrollbars similar to the Edge browser to Chrome for Windows 11, but it's unclear when the feature will be activated by default on the browser.
