When buying an oven, it's crucial to assess your needs, usage, and budget to select a suitable product for your family.
1. Categorizing Ovens
Although all ovens serve the same purpose, selecting the right one entails considering your needs, usage, and budget. There's a wide array of ovens available in the market, ranging in size, brand, and functionality. Therefore, it's important to identify your usage requirements to choose the most suitable product.
Presently, basic types of ovens available include:
1. Box Ovens
These ovens are box-shaped with skewers, racks, and drip trays. Apart from roasting vegetables, fruits, and meats, these ovens are also ideal for baking cakes. They are reasonably priced and are a preferred choice for many Vietnamese families. However, their small capacity makes them suitable only for baking small-sized cakes. The prices of box ovens range from 800,000 to over 1 million VND, depending on size and brand.

2. Glass Ovens
These ovens are made of glass and cook food thoroughly using heat emitted from Halogen bulbs. They are versatile, capable of cooking various dishes like pizza, roasted chicken, duck, beef, lamb, pork, seafood, vegetables, sausages, hamburgers, steaming cakes, thawing, and smoking.

Moreover, heat from the Halogen bulb at the top of the oven will radiate down to the food being baked below, so almost all glass ovens come with a convection fan to distribute heat evenly, avoiding burning on the top while the bottom remains undercooked. Glass ovens allow you to monitor the food's browning, prevent splattering, and facilitate easy relocation. However, the downside is cleaning can be challenging when grease splatters onto the convection fan. Glass ovens may shatter upon heavy impact or sudden temperature changes. Particularly, if you intend to purchase an oven for baking cakes, it's advisable not to opt for a glass oven due to its limited capacity and inflexible temperature control. The prices of glass ovens usually range from 600,000 to over 1 million VND.
3. Built-in Oven
A premium type of oven fixed into the kitchen cabinet typically used by households. The advantage of a built-in oven over other types lies in its high and stable temperature maintenance. This type of oven is particularly suitable for households that frequently bake and cook large-sized foods such as chicken, duck, and goose. Additionally, this type of oven is suitable for making various types of cakes and bread. The drawback of this type of oven is its high cost and large capacity, while Vietnamese people have a tendency to cook less baked dishes. Therefore, if you research, you should consider the usage density of your household oven.
