The extremely rigorous training regimen of the Korean LoL team has even LCK fans worried for the players, especially Faker.
After returning from their pre-season ASIAD matches in Hangzhou with a perfect record, the Korean LoL team is now preparing to depart for Hangzhou, China. With this participation, the Korean LoL team aims for nothing less than the gold medal. Additionally, a victory and gold medal would serve as sweet revenge against the host country's team, which defeated the Korean LoL team in the 2018 finals.
The players themselves demonstrate clear determination, with the Korean LoL team's lineup being evaluated as flawless in every position. Especially, in the two previous friendly matches, the duo returning from the LPL, Kanavi and Ruler, have shown the highest level of performance. They are also considered as two crucial names expected to secure victory for the Korean LoL team. Furthermore, Ruler and Kanavi have a deep understanding of the Chinese opponents due to their extensive experience competing in the LPL.
Recently, Coach kkOma revealed details about the harsh training schedule of the Korean LoL team players. According to the former T1 coach: 'Players start training at 11 a.m. and the training session only ends at 3 a.m. the following day. We close the facility at 3 a.m. to prevent unauthorized access. All players are determined and passionate. I admit that this 'torturous' training style has been in place since the training camp began, but none of the players find it difficult.'
Additionally, Coach kkOma also disclosed the detailed schedule. Players have individual and scientific training sessions from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Group training follows from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., followed by individual coaching until 7 p.m. After dinner, group practice continues until 11 p.m. According to Coach kkOma's sharing, the scheduled training session ends at 11 p.m., but the players themselves voluntarily 'try hard' until 3 a.m.
Despite having some rest time, many spectators are concerned about the players' health, especially Faker. It's common knowledge that Faker recently recovered from an injury. Such rigorous training could potentially lead to a recurrence of Faker's injury.
However, it's clear that the players themselves are extremely determined to win the gold medal at the upcoming ASIAD. It's not just about national glory or personal benefits; it also signifies the first-ever gold medal for Esports as an officially recognized event in a prestigious competition like the Asian Games.
