Coco Tran breaks down during an interview discussing the disappointing box office performance of Hong Kong's (China) first-ever sci-fi blockbuster, 'Chronicles of Celestial Events.'
Recently, a Chinese social media platform shared a video featuring Coco Tran at a promotional event for the film 'Chronicles of Celestial Events.' The video starts with the actor of 'Condor Heroes' appearing sophisticated and waving to fans at the cinema. However, when discussing the film in an interview, he couldn't contain his emotions and burst into tears.

In the video, Coco Tran wipes away tears with a tissue, expressing disappointment over the sci-fi blockbuster, which he poured a lot of passion and money into but failed to achieve satisfactory box office results, facing the risk of losses. He said, 'The world is so cruel. Ten years of hard work but in vain.'
He also choked up, urging people to go to the theaters, introduce the film to family and friends, and support 'Chronicles of Celestial Events.' 'Don't make me feel like I'm alone,' he appealed to the audience.
'Chronicles of Celestial Events' is a sci-fi action film about the apocalypse, featuring renowned actors such as Coco Tran, Liu Qingyun, and Liu Jialing. The film began production in 2017, produced by Coco Tran's company, with a massive budget of up to 450 million Hong Kong dollars (57.3 million USD).

'Chronicles of Glory' premiered in mainland China on 5/8, hailed as the grandest blockbuster in the history of Hong Kong cinema. However, many viewers criticized it for having an unappealing storyline. Worse still, Chinese film critics only gave 'Chronicles of Glory' a 2/5 rating.
As of 8/14, the box office revenue barely reached over 320 million Chinese yuan (over 47 million USD). This figure falls short of the production costs, not to mention the expenses for organizing promotional activities and the team's efforts over the past several years. According to assessments, given the current situation, the chances of the film 'turning the tide' are very slim.
