Presenting text is a crucial skill for office workers, tackling various document drafting tasks daily. Today, Mytour will discuss adjusting the standard spacing between words in Word for readers to reference.

The spacing between lines of text is usually default depending on the font style. Some fonts make the characters appear close together, while others create a noticeable gap.
However, you can still customize these spaces according to your preferences. There are several ways to adjust the spacing between words, and we will explore each method.
To adjust the spacing between words, start by selecting the characters you want to modify.
Next, click on the expanded icon in the Font section on the Home ribbon.

The Font function window will open; navigate to the Advanced tab. Here, you can adjust the spacing between words in Word under Character Spacing.
With Scale, you can alter the standard spacing between words in proportion. More than 100% expands the spacing, less than 100% narrows the spacing.
You can preview the stretchiness between words in the Preview section right below.

With Spacing, you can choose Expanded to stretch the line according to resolution. Around 2pt, you can stretch the line with the spacing as shown in the example.

Alternatively, if you choose Condensed, you can condense the line according to resolution.

After selecting the settings, click OK to confirm. Then, the highlighted characters will automatically condense or stretch the line according to the chosen spacing.

Additionally, there are other stretching options, such as the Distributed function used to evenly stretch text to fit the paper size. You can find the Distributed icon in the Paragraph section on the Home ribbon.
Alternatively, use the Ctrl Shift J key combination to perform a similar function.

The Fit Text feature is also a precise spacing adjustment function. You can find it right below Distributed in the Paragraph section of Home.

Using Fit Text, you can precisely adjust the length of the selected text cluster. As shown in the image below, you will see the Current text width, which is the original length of the selected text line.

Fill in the values for New text width to change the length of that text cluster. Mytour has chosen a length of 10 cm, slightly longer than the old length of 7.38 cm, to create a new spacing for the text cluster.
The result you will achieve is that the text cluster will be evenly stretched to match the length of 10 cm.
