This morning, on May 15th, a corner of Phu Van Tower in front of the Imperial City of Hue collapsed. At the scene, the rear left corner, the roof collapsed with a heap of shattered tiles and splintered wood.



According to observations by PV, the collapse was caused by extensive termite damage to almost all of the wooden columns.
The connections of the columns, rafters, and beams also show signs of decay due to termites.
According to the security guard, the collapse occurred at dawn. Fortunately, there was no one passing by at the time of the collapse.
Currently, the Hue Imperial Citadel Conservation Center has sealed off the site to prevent danger to nearby residents.
Phu Van Tower is an architectural structure located in front of the Flag Tower – Imperial City of Hue, built by the Nguyen dynasty in 1819. It is where important documents of the court are archived.
