After receiving numerous negative feedback from the manga-anime community about the season 8 event, BTC Color Fiesta has issued an explanation and apology.
Color Fiesta 2022 was anticipated as an event for fans to interact with artists. However, on February 27th, due to organizational shortcomings, the event faced severe criticism from politicians and attending artists. Numerous exposés criticizing Color Fiesta 2022 were posted on manga-anime groups and fanpages, reflecting the dissatisfaction of the fan community, sparking a boycott of the long-standing event. In response to the strong backlash, on the evening of February 28th, Color Fiesta's official fanpage issued an apology accompanied by clarifications regarding the concerns raised by attendees.

In this post, BTC Color Fiesta 2022 has explained the reasons behind some incidents. Specifically, regarding the early dismissal of Early Bird/VIP ticket holders, BTC stated that this was an unintended consequence due to objective conditions. Additionally, BTC took responsibility and proposed compensation for ticket holders who were unable to attend the event. Furthermore, concerns related to staff attitudes, disputes between BTC and parents... were all addressed and explained thoroughly.

Alongside the explanation and apology, BTC Color Fiesta promises to learn from the experiences for future events. However, despite this action, many fans still express their intention to boycott the program entirely. According to their explanation, organizing until season 8 while still making fundamental organizational mistakes like those in the recent event is very difficult to sympathize with. Furthermore, the poor attitude of the staff also alienated attendees. Moreover, the compensation plans from Color Fiesta 2022 are also deemed inadequate. Currently, the compensation plan only extends to promised discounts for the next event and refunds within the next 10 days.

Some comments from netizens:
- After season 8, still expecting EB/VIP attendees next year for 'compensation'? Seriously?
Who knows how next year will be :)) This year, they already sold 3 types of tickets but still no priority line, what about next year without ticket classification, then they have to review c8 ticket information blablabla again.
Not to mention, EB/VIP attendees are not just in SG, some come from far away, so next festival making people come back for compensation early?
- The whole festival scene, from staff to BTC, staff act like they own the place and bully customers, who knows if the staff are bigger than anyone else and act annoyingly, if can't do it, stay home or find another job, nobody forces you to work so why suffer like that? BTC then chase customers like chasing ghosts, when EB and VIP like me got kicked out, it's very painful, can't do anything except watching regular ticket holders go up the stairs in the sun and then leave, running from far away 45-50km just to attend a festival and get nothing out of it, better off sleeping at home. Annoyed? Yes. Can do anything? NO
Next year definitely going to a new festival, no more of this cofi at this level, switch to another festival, guys
- Compensation for what :))) probably next season VIP and EB are craving to go. Let it go, compensate right now instead of making them come to this festival again next year, it's a real mess of a festival.
- Honestly, I'm quite sad, because this was my first time going to CoFi and I traveled from another city with my friend. Maybe I was a bit lucky to meet a CoFi staff member who spoke gently and apologized to us. We managed to enter CoFi in the afternoon, just hoping that CoFi learns from this and has better solutions for future events.
- This is what I want to convey to the event organizers at CoFi. You all have had sufficient education, have been in the industry for years, yet you operated the event so poorly last Sunday. The most basic thing is to understand the numbers before renting a venue, not the other way around. And if you're afraid of the pandemic and can't control the number of participants, you should know to limit ticket sales. These are the two most basic things that even someone like me who doesn't organize events knows. We all spent money buying tickets with the hope of a fun event after months of lockdown due to the pandemic, but received disappointing results. Next time, if you can't handle the event operation from A to Z, hire an agency to do it, or else don't do it at all. Truly disappointed...
