I. Kick-off:
Observe and discuss the colors of the painting in the reading.

II. Read the poem:
1. What interesting choices of colors did the little artist make for the painting?
- Red: rose petals, cheeks

- Purple: shirt, sunset
- Brown: vast mountains
=> Each color symbolizes a specific object or a few, triggering associations like red rose petals evoking rosy cheeks or the purple shirt reminiscent of a sunset.
2. How are the objects in stanza 2 described in terms of words and images? What makes that description interesting?
- Words depicting objects in stanza 2:
+ Sunrise: hanging on the clouds
+ Sunlight: gently released onto the ground
+ Wind: carrying a subtle, fragrant aroma
+ Bee: small, brimming with honey
=> The entities in the stanza are all in action: “hanging,” “releasing,” “carrying a sweet fragrance,” “tiny, brimming with honey,” making them not passive but vivid, enticing, and enhancing the liveliness of the poem.
3. Why does the young one say: “At night, like ink’s hue/ To light up the sky with stars…”?
- Because the black hue of the night sky serves as a perfect backdrop for the sparkling stars to shine brightly.
=> Black is a deep, rarely used color, but when placed appropriately, it has a tremendously impactful effect.
4. What does the last stanza of the poem aim to convey?
- The final stanza of the poem conveys the diversity of colors. Everywhere, colors are present, in abundance.
- The last stanza also depicts the sacrifices and hardships of mothers.
