On December 28, 2021, Xiaomi officially launched MIUI 13 based on the latest Android 12. In this version, the company focused on fixing previously reported bugs, improving system stability, making MIUI faster, and introducing a new interface. Let's compare MIUI 13 and MIUI 12.5 for a more objective view of these two versions!
If you're still undecided about whether to update to MIUI 13, this article will provide you with the answer you're looking for. Let's dive in right away!
1. One-handed mode: Improved in MIUI 13

The one-handed mode, present in previous MIUI versions but removed from MIUI 8 to MIUI 12.5 by Xiaomi, has made a comeback in MIUI 13 alongside Android 12. When users pull down the bottom bar, the screen will drop halfway down, making it easier to use with one hand.
2. Extra Dim feature

This is a self-explanatory feature with Dark Mode 2.0 added to MIUI 12.5 previously, and in this new update, the company continues to apply it to the latest Android version, which is a feature officially supported by Google for Android 12.
Extra Dim enhances smoother operation and better integration with the newer Android system, eliminating black color filters when capturing screenshots as before. Additionally, when we set the screen brightness to the lowest possible and even lower than the normal phone adjustment range.
3. New Splash Animation
Google has added the new Splash Animation to Android 12, and now Xiaomi has brought it to MIUI 12.5. When users open an app, this feature provides optimized dynamic images. Additionally, app opening times will be faster, skipping over intricate animations with logo effects. However, you can only see the new Splash Animation with supported apps.
4. Refreshed Contact Widgets on MIUI 13

The new contact widget has been added to Android 12 AOSP, and now it has also been added to the MIUI 12.5 Android 12 version. We can add each conversation as a sub-widget and access it more quickly.
5. Improved Notification Bar on MIUI 13

The icon at the top left of the notification bar has been changed in MIUI 13. Previously, it would display the app icon, but now the device will show images of participants in the conversation or group images. Additionally, app notifications have become more compatible with MIUI.
6. Bold Clock Icon and New Date-Time Format

On the new MIUI, the clock icon on the status bar is now bolder and clearer.

The date format on the new MIUI 13 version will be shortened to save space and somewhat appear simpler. Furthermore, this feature will provide more space for notifications on the screen, allowing us to manage new notifications more easily.
Which devices will be supported for MIUI 13 update?
