Hey there, just moved into a bigger place with more rooms and now I'm in the market for another air purifier. I've always had my eye on the Air Purifier 4 Pro, it's super popular and has tons of rave reviews. But back when I was in a tiny apartment, there just wasn't enough space, so I settled for the Xiaomi Smartmi Jya Fjord. Finally, after moving and settling in, I snagged the 4 Pro. Now that I've had the chance to try both, my perspective has totally shifted. Here's my breakdown.
Design-wiseThe Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro boasts a soft and elegant white color, perfect for the ladies.
On the flip side, the Jya Fjord Air Purifier opts for a 'Space Grey' hue – also known as gray. It may not be as soft as the 4 Pro, but it's sleek, and if placed in the living room, it exudes sophistication. When it comes to color, it's all about personal preference, so I'm not leaning towards either side. Both machines feature small holes on the front and back for air intake.
However, there's one aspect where the Jya Fjord Air Purifier shines – its compactness and lightness. I'm 5 feet 4 inches tall, and carrying the Jya up the stairs is a breeze as it only comes up to my neck. The 4 Pro, on the other hand, is quite tall, reaching eye level when I lift it, so maneuvering it up the stairs is a bit nerve-wracking. I didn't consider this when purchasing, but now I realize the convenience of having a smaller unit.Regarding weight
Another point is that the Jya Fjord Air Purifier is much easier to drag around the room compared to the Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro. Every time I move it, I have to exert quite a bit of effort to lift it up.
LED DisplayBoth air purifiers are equipped with LED displays showing air quality, allowing tracking of PM 2.5 levels, humidity, and temperature... I took them to a well-lit area for photos, so couldn't plug them in.Overall, the Jya Fjord Air Purifier provides more detailed air quality information as it has 1 more level than the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro. I rate the Jya higher for this.
The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro features indicator lights corresponding to 3 air quality levels:- Good air quality: Green light indicator
- Normal air quality: Orange light indicator
- Poor air quality: Red light indicator
The Jya Fjord Air Purifier displays 4 air quality levels through its indicator light system on the screen:- Green: Excellent air quality
- Yellow: Good air quality
- Orange: Moderate air quality
- Red: Polluted air, not good for health
Regarding filtration capabilityThe Xiaomi 4 Pro air purifier is equipped with a new generation HEPA filter with 5 layers:- The first layer filters out large particles like dust, fabric fibers, hair, and animal fur.
- The second and third layers of the filter remove viruses and bacteria.
- The HEPA layer is responsible for filtering out all types of fine dust particles with a diameter of 0.3μm.
- The high-quality activated carbon filter layer helps absorb formaldehyde and other harmful chemicals, eliminating odors.

The Jya Fjord Air Purifier features 4 filter layers:
- Pre-HEPA filter layer: Captures large particles like dust, fabric fibers, hair, pollen, and animal fur
- NanoGuard filter layer: Blocks and removes ultra-fine dust particles in the air as small as 0.1 micron.
- Activated carbon layer: Eliminates odors and harmful gases
- UV filter layer: Destroys viruses and bacteria, sterilizes the air with a safe UV light system.
Although the Xiaomi 4 Pro air purifier has more than one filter layer, its second and third layers share a common task and lack the UV filter layer to completely eliminate bacteria. In contrast, the Jya Fjord Air Purifier boasts this advanced filter layer, featuring a modern UV light disinfection system inside the machine, capable of destroying up to 99.95% of all airborne viruses and bacteria, ensuring the air in your home remains clean and absolutely safe.Having more filter layers doesn't necessarily mean better performance; you also need to consider the function of each layer. If two layers are the same, I don't think the effectiveness would be any better. So, in this aspect, I give a big plus point to the Jya Fjord Air Purifier.Filtration TechnologyWhile both employ HEPA filtration technology, the Jya Fjord Air Purifier stands out from the Xiaomi 4 Pro with NanoGuard filtration technology, activated carbon filtration, and TVOC gas sensor. This technology allows for the removal of ultra-fine dust particles up to 0.1 micron in size (according to the manufacturer's specifications).
Even though we can't see dust, we can smell odors. The odor-removing capability of the Jya Fjord Air Purifier is amazing, folks. I've tested it in two rooms with paint odors, and the Jya Fjord Air Purifier eliminates the odors faster. The Xiaomi 4 Pro is also quick, but it takes a bit longer. If it can handle paint odors this well, imagine how fast it can deal with kitchen smells, cigarette smoke... within minutes. When I was living in a dorm, I cooked in my room and my clothes hardly ever smelled, now I know why.About Air Filtration EfficiencyThe Xiaomi Air Purifier 4 Pro has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 500m3/h, while the Jya Fjord air purifier boasts a clean air CADR of up to 450m3/h and a TVOC CADR of 150m3/h. Overall, there isn't much difference between the two metrics, and both of these Xiaomi air purifiers can meet all air filtration needs in spaces up to 60m2.

Experience ResultsBoth Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro and Jya Fjord air purifiers were purchased at similar prices. However, based on my experience, Jya Fjord integrates more features and smarter filtration technology. Compared to the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 4 Pro, Jya Fjord focuses more on air filtration capabilities and superior odor elimination.I used to really like the Purifier 4 Pro and bought the Jya Fjord out of necessity, but now I prefer the Jya Fjord. And if any friends ask for advice on air purifiers, I'll definitely recommend Jya Fjord.By the way, I'll share where I've always bought Xiaomi stuff from HERE, folks.
