1. Information about Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 128GB
In March 2021, Samsung introduced the A series with 3 models: Samsung Galaxy A52, A52 5G, and A72. All three phones are in the mid-range segment, with Samsung Galaxy A72 and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G being better equipped than the remaining A52 model.
Below is the general information about Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 128GB:
2. Comparison of Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 128GB
– Design Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy A series this year showcases similar designs across the board, differing only slightly in size, with the A72 being marginally larger than the A52 5G. Both the Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB and Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 128GB boast simple, aesthetically pleasing, and elegant designs, available in four vibrant color options: black, white, purple, and blue.
Both phones feature plastic backs, yet they exude a reassuring solidity when held. The Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB distributes its weight slightly better than the A52 5G. Despite the Galaxy A72 weighing 203g, slightly heavier than the 189g A52 5G, it feels remarkably comfortable in hand.
Both models in the A series retain essential ports such as the 3.5mm headphone jack and microSD card slot, with the added benefit of IP67 water and dust resistance.
– Screen Comparison
While there are differences in screen size and some specifications, they do not significantly differentiate the devices. Both feature Super AMOLED displays and Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2400 pixels), with the Samsung Galaxy A72 boasting a 6.7-inch screen and the A52 5G sporting a 6.5-inch display. The 0.2-inch variance in screen size is negligible when considering the overall dimensions of the phones.
An interesting aspect in comparing the displays of these two phones is the refresh rate. The Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB features a 90Hz refresh rate, whereas the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G boasts a higher 120Hz refresh rate, a feature typically seen in premium flagship models like the Galaxy S21 series. However, it's important to note that the difference between 90Hz and 120Hz is hardly discernible to the naked eye. This suggests that the displays of both phones appear smooth, vibrant, and sufficiently attractive, with rich colors.
– Performance and Hardware Comparison
In terms of memory, both smartphones offer the same 8GB RAM with 128GB internal storage and can be expanded up to 1TB with a microSD card. However, a clear difference lies in their chipset configurations.
The Samsung Galaxy A72 features the Snapdragon 720G chipset, while the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G is equipped with a more powerful 750G chipset. Consequently, the A52 5G offers slightly better performance than the A72. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G can connect to 5G networks, whereas the A72 is limited to 4G connectivity.
On the software front, both come with the One UI 3.1 interface based on Android 11.
– Camera Comparison
These two phones don't differ much in terms of their cameras. They both feature a total of 5 lenses (4 rear and 1 front) with a main camera of 64MP and a front camera of 32MP.
The notable hardware difference between the two phones lies in the 8MP telephoto lens that the Galaxy A72 possesses. This sensor provides 3x optical zoom capability, resulting in better optical zoomed images. Moreover, the A72 can zoom up to 30x, more than most phones in this price range can achieve. On the other hand, the Galaxy A52 5G lacks a telephoto lens but has a 5MP depth sensor and a 5MP macro camera.
In terms of image quality, both phones produce reasonably detailed images with accurate colors. In some of the images below, we can observe that the Galaxy A52 5G produces more vibrant colors, which are quite pleasing to the eye. Both phones also feature Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to aid in video recording and photography.
– Battery Capacity Comparison
The Samsung Galaxy A72 has a 5,000mAh battery compared to the 4,500mAh on the A52 5G, and both have 25W fast charging on both phones.
In battery tests, the Samsung Galaxy A72 can last about 40 minutes to an hour longer than the Galaxy A52 5G. This is understandable given the difference in battery capacity as mentioned above.
– Price Comparison
According to our research, the current prices of these two models do not differ significantly:
Samsung Galaxy A72 8GB/128GB: 8,790,000 VND
Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 8GB/128GB: 8,399,000 VND
3. Should I Buy Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB or Samsung Galaxy A52 5G 128GB?
Thus, based on the comparison above, both phones have their own advantages. The Samsung Galaxy A72 128GB offers a larger screen, a telephoto camera, and a bigger battery. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G features a more powerful chipset, 5G connectivity, and a brighter display.
In my personal opinion, I would prioritize choosing the Samsung Galaxy A52 5G model because of its lower price, and most importantly, the chipset is a crucial core factor of the phone. Besides, aspects such as size, battery, or camera, the A52 5G still performs very well, not inferior to the A72 in any aspect.
