Specific Levels of National High School History Exam Papers in 2018
In general, the structure of the History exam papers remains similar to that of 2017. In addition to the Grade 12 knowledge, there is also content from Grade 11. About 2/3 of the questions focus on Vietnamese history, while 1/3 cover world history. The exam papers are categorized into the following levels:
- Recognition: This section consists of 8 questions. Students need to grasp the basic content from textbooks to answer them.
- Comprehension: This part includes 12 questions, covering fundamental knowledge with some connections to other topics. Students need broader understanding to answer these questions.
- Low Application: Consisting of 12 questions with slightly higher-level knowledge, demanding students to have solid and flexible understanding to apply various concepts.
- High Application: This section accounts for only 8 out of 40 questions and entirely covers Grade 12 history content. To answer these questions, students must demonstrate critical thinking, logical reasoning, alertness, and quick decision-making to select the most accurate answers.
How to Effectively Learn History?
History is often considered a challenging subject due to its theoretical knowledge and requirement for accuracy in events and timelines, which can sometimes intimidate students. However, there are effective ways to study history. Here are some tips:
- Study Right in Class: This is a quite effective studying method chosen by many students. Paying attention during lectures, grasping knowledge, and memorizing right in class will help students save study time.
- Study with Mind Maps: This concise and scientific method of studying with mind maps helps your brain absorb historical events and difficult timelines quickly and remember them longer. For each lesson, read carefully once, then summarize the main points into a mind map, making it easier for you to study.
- Study by Historical Periods: Divide your study sessions into historical periods, and within each period, further divide them into key points for easier memorization.
- Connect Related Events in a Sequence: Each historical event is connected to others, so you need to find those connections to string them together. Focus on the significant details and omit unnecessary ones, selecting only the main, important ones.
- Connect Historical Milestones Relevant to Yourself: For example, linking the dates of Campaign A with your father's/mother's/sibling's birthday, etc. This way, you'll remember historical timelines more quickly and accurately.
- Study During the Time You Feel Most Comfortable: This is crucial because this subject requires memorization. If you're too stressed, you won't concentrate well or absorb knowledge effectively.
- Focus on Textbook Content: The content in textbooks is quite comprehensive and detailed. Therefore, students only need to summarize and memorize the knowledge in them to easily answer exam questions.
