Set in a poor tenement about to be sealed off in Saigon, Ròm focuses on the story of a 'Ròm' boy who lost his parents, resorting to gambling and competing with a tougher, more notorious gangster. The characters in the film mostly scrape together pennies for lottery tickets, hoping for some miracle. Amidst the hustle and bustle of Saigon, where the gap between rich and poor is vast, Ròm may depict the struggles of a kid with nothing but his wits to survive daily life in this city, or the darkest aspects of society, the worst issues that could unfold. Ròm is like a tiny grain of sand in a vast desert, blown wherever the wind takes him.

After numerous challenges faced by director Trần Thanh Huy and the film crew, Ròm has officially been screened in cinemas across Vietnam. Although the content will be adjusted to fit, according to the director, it won't affect the essence of Ròm or miss anything significant.
