Dear teacher and classmates, on the screen is an illustrative image regarding the issue of environmental pollution. As you are aware, the environment is currently facing severe pollution. Environmental pollution is occurring in many countries worldwide. In Vietnam, this situation is highly alarming.
Firstly, some factories and industries do not treat waste, directly discharging pollutants into rivers and lakes. This causes water contamination, resulting in the death of many species. Most recently, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has provided startling figures in its environmental report. Specifically, 'each year our country consumes 10,000 tons of pesticides, 2 tons of household waste, 7 million tons of industrial solid waste [...] indeed, environmental issues have never been as pressing as they are now'. Additionally, excessive use of pesticides and chemicals also heavily pollutes the soil. Residues of these chemicals seep into the soil, posing long-term health risks to humans.
So, in your opinion, what are the causes of environmental pollution? The first cause must be attributed to the consciousness of each individual. Human impact on the environment is significant. People litter indiscriminately, disposing of waste wherever convenient. With the motto 'as long as the house is clean', some individuals are willing to dispose of rubbish into rivers, streams, and streets without feeling remorse or regret. Furthermore, because the authorities have not imposed appropriate sanctions, many people remain unaware or brazenly pollute their living spaces.
The consequences of environmental pollution are immense. Firstly, it directly affects human health. Water pollution, air pollution causes dangerous diseases such as heart disease, respiratory issues, cancer. Moreover, animals and plants are also affected by environmental destruction. You can observe on the screen an illustration of the impact of environmental pollution on flora and fauna.
