Practice Presentation and Debate, pages 93, 94 of Textbook, Short 1
Question 1 (page 93 Textbook Vietnamese 5): Build upon a character's perspective in the story below, extend the logic and provide evidence to present and debate with peers.
Answer:
- Soil: Soil is the primary necessity for plants.
Logic: Soil contains nutrients vital for plant growth and serves as their habitat. Removing plants from soil, devoid of its nutrients, results in their demise.
- Water: Plants need water the most.
Logic: Water facilitates nutrient transportation within plants, maintaining soil moisture. During droughts, despite soil presence, plants wither, and soil cracks.
- Air: Plants require air the most.
Logic: Plants cannot survive without air. While they may survive briefly without soil or water, air deprivation leads to immediate death.
- Light: Plants require light the most.
Logic: Light sustains the green coloration of plants. Plants cannot survive without light. Light deficiency even affects humans, causing weakness and deterioration.
Question 2 (page 94 Textbook Vietnamese 5): Present your viewpoint to convince others of the essential nature of both the moon and the lamp in the following folk song:
Lanterns boast brighter light than the moon. Oh lantern, do you still shine when facing the wind?
Response:
In our lives, light is essential. The sunlight during the day helps us to function, learn, work... comfortably. But when night falls, we need light to continue our activities. Therefore, both the moon and lanterns are crucial for human activities. Lanterns help us see clearer, allowing us to read, work at night. However, lanterns cannot be arrogant because oil lamps will extinguish in the wind, and if they are electric, there are times when there is a power outage. Moreover, both oil lamps and electric lights can only illuminate one place. Whereas the moon is a natural light source. The moon can shine its light everywhere, unaffected by the wind. The moon is a source of inspiration for many poets, musicians, artists creating timeless works for humanity. However, the moon cannot be arrogant either because it has its moments of dimness and brightness, when it waxes and wanes. Despite this, people still need lamps to read, work. Therefore, both the moon and lamps are necessary for humans.
