I love the folk tales of my country
Not only are they kind, but also profoundly wonderful
We love others and only then do they love us
Loving each other, even though distant, we find each other
In goodness we meet goodness
Straightforward people attain enlightenment
I carry my country's folk tales with me
Hearing ancient whispers silently in life
Gold in the sunshine, white in the rain
The river flows with leaning coconut palms reflected
My ancestors' lives and mine
Like a river with the horizon far away
Only the folk tales remain steadfast
Helping me recognize my ancestors.
