Previously, Mytour has guided you on setting password protection for folders with Anvide Lock Folder. In this article, we also help you protect important documents without the need to install any software. Concealing documents or important files as image files (GIF format) is a deceptive tactic to deceive others into not paying attention to these images when intentionally accessing your computer illegally.
Conceal important documents as GIF image files
Step 1: Compress the important documents into RAR format (using one of the best file compression and decompression software) and a GIF image file in the same folder.
Place that folder in drive C (name it as you like; here Mytour names the folder Betdownload)
Step 2: Open Command Prompt (refer to the article on how to launch Command Prompt)
Type the command cd C:\Betdownload (Betdownload is the name of the directory located in drive C:\)
Step 3: Use the parameter /B in the Copy command to conceal important files.
With the following command:
copy /B image.gif + document.rar newimage.gif
Where:
- image.gif: Image file located in the directory on drive C.
- document.rar: Compressed file located in the directory on drive C
Step 4: After setup is complete, navigate back to drive C:\, open the directory you've placed. Now, within the new directory, you'll find an additional image, which is your new image along with the compressed document.
To view the documents inside, simply right-click on the new image, choose Open With, and select a program to extract the compressed file (Mytour uses WinRAR for compression and extraction).
The image file is opened using WinRAR.
It's not too difficult, is it? Thanks to this method, you can keep the disk space intact without installing any additional software on your computer while still protecting your important data. Concealing other data as image files can be done in a similar manner.
