Diablo 4 developers tread carefully amid recent negative reactions towards Diablo Immortal.
Diablo has always been a major brand in the gaming industry, garnering a vast fanbase over its 25-year history since the debut in 1996. With each new release in the series, Diablo carries high expectations from gamers. Most recently, Diablo Immortal created a significant impact.

However, it's a double-edged sword for the franchise. With great anticipation comes the risk of widespread negativity if the game fails to meet player expectations. Diablo Immortal serves as a clear example of this. Despite its compelling gameplay and top-notch graphics, the game faced criticism for being excessively monetized. Players pointed out that achieving a full set of items, equipment, and characters without spending money would take a staggering 110 years – highlighting the extent of the game's monetization.

Understandably, the backlash against Diablo Immortal was expected. Now, even before its release, Diablo 4 has already received numerous negative comments, expressing concerns that it might follow the same profit-driven path as Diablo Immortal. Rather than anticipation, many express apprehension for this upcoming blockbuster.

Acknowledging the concerns, Diablo 4 developers quickly reassure players. Specifically, Adam Fletcher, the head of Blizzard's global community, affirmed: 'Diablo 4 will provide ample, free content for PC/console players. The game's content is vast and will take a considerable amount of time for players to experience fully. Diablo 4's paid items will primarily focus on cosmetics and other expansion content'. Following this, Blizzard's Senior Vice President, Rod Fergusson, made a similar statement with a reassuring tone.

The true extent of the influence from the gaming community is massive. However, whether this brings positive effects to Diablo 4 remains uncertain. What is known is that, so far, Diablo Immortal - once an anticipated blockbuster - is becoming one of the lowest-rated games in the series.
