There are two ways to set up UEFI, BIOS to boot from USB, external hard drive. You can either switch the BIOS firmware to legacy BIOS, or use the built-in option in UEFI, BIOS.
Setting up UEFI boot from USB, external hard drive option
Firstly, turn off your laptop or computer, then restart it. During the boot process, press the dedicated shortcut key to access BIOS or Boot Option before the system boots into Windows.
Different operating systems will have different shortcut keys to access Boot Option and BIOS of different computer models. If using a Dell laptop, press F12 to access BIOS.
