In detail, analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O'Malley from Barclays have just revealed that Sony may supply the majority of components for the upgraded LiDAR scanner in models set to launch later this year.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo stated last month that Sony is poised to replace Lumentum and WIN Semiconductors as the exclusive supplier of LiDAR scanner components for the Pro models. Kuo explained that Sony's solution is more energy-efficient, potentially enhancing LiDAR scanner performance with similar energy consumption or equivalent performance with lower energy consumption.
Introduced in the 2020 Pro models, the LiDAR scanner can measure light distance and gather depth information. However, this hardware feature is expected to remain an exclusive function of the iPhone 15 Pro series. The improved LiDAR scanner could prove beneficial for augmented reality applications, night mode photography, and the camera's autofocus.
Other rumored features of the iPhone 15 Pro include the A17 Bionic chip, USB-C port, titanium frame with robust status buttons, and slimmer bezels around the display, among others.
