Hill 79, situated in Triệu Hải commune, Đạ Tẻh district, Lâm Đồng province, approximately 20 km from Madagui town via DT721 road, stands as one of the challenging slopes for adventurers to test their limits.
Exploring Lâm Đồng by overcoming Hill 79 in Đạ Tẻh
To reach this destination, from Madagui town (Đạ Huoai district, Lâm Đồng province), turn onto DT721 road for about 15 km, then take a right onto a small dirt road, located opposite Triệu Hải elementary school. If you find it hard to locate this direction, ask the locals passing through the ethnic suspension bridge in Đạ Huoai village.

Hill 79 (coordinates: start point 11.4490800, 107.4874982; end point 11.4490800, 107.4874982) spans a little over 1.1 km, divided into three small slopes: 1, 2, and 3. Slope 1 extends 450 m, slope 2 extends 160 m, and the remaining part is slope 3.
Slope 2 poses the greatest challenge, as it has a steep incline, and the road, although recently leveled by a construction company, remains quite difficult to traverse. Moreover, during the rainy season, the road becomes slippery, causing any motorbike attempting to cross to skid and tumble, regardless of whether you are an off-road enthusiast, an adventurer, or a local resident.
Exploring the Hanging Bridge in Đạ Huoai Village
The hanging bridge spanning over the tranquil Đạ Huoai River is easily traversed. In December, as the winter chill sets in, the plateau becomes devoid of rain. The rivers here take on a picturesque, serene quality, their waters gently flowing. Standing upon the bridge, casting your gaze into the distance, you'll spot the village nestled amidst fields and hills.

Lush cornfields and vibrant green tapioca fields line the road on both sides. Expansive peanut fields stretch out endlessly. Tall grass and wildflowers sway in the winter breeze, blending with the pale blue of the sky, creating moments of serene simplicity.

“Let's Conquer Hill 79”
Passing through Hill 1, a motorcycle with a passenger could easily make the climb. However, as we hadn't securely fastened our luggage, through rough patches, our belongings, water bottles, and even parts of our tent gradually loosened and fell behind.
Ascending the initial slope, our group was all panting heavily, soaked in sweat, some even trembling so much that speech became unintelligible. Each of us was burdened with heavy baggage, navigating a steep, nearly vertical ascent, a daunting task indeed.
From the summit of Hill 1, casting your gaze, you can admire the beauty of the wild, majestic mountain forest, so poetic and grand. Nature treats you to breathtaking natural landscapes, dispelling the thirst and fatigue of the journey.
The second slope stands tall and straight, winding gracefully across the lofty hill. Each member's task is to steer steadily, to safely propel the 'warhorses' forward.
Of the 6 vehicles in the convoy, 2 stalled midway up the slope, while the remaining 3 slowly pushed and pulled upwards. The last vehicle, led by the convoy leader with a larger engine, ascended more easily. The convoy tirelessly cheered each other on throughout the journey, pushing and pulling with ropes the two stalled vehicles up the slope.

A small slope left us with indescribable emotions: the eagerness to conquer challenges, experiencing a beautiful route known to few; many exhausted from pushing vehicles; countless cheers echoing, fostering camaraderie and support, and endless emotions upon revisiting the images and videos capturing those moments...
At 5:30 PM, while struggling to find the way forward, the group spotted a wooden house by the roadside, stopping to ask for water for cooking. Hearing from the colleagues at Company 79 that the upcoming section was difficult to traverse, slippery due to moss, and muddy from the rain.
The sky gradually darkened, the forest engulfed in eerie stillness, gloomy. Faint rays of light dimmed, yielding to the descending night. The group deliberated and decided to halt here and camp overnight.
The accommodation provided by the rubber plantation company features a spacious courtyard, perfect for overnight campfires. Particularly, you'll be treated to invigorating dips in the icy mountain stream.
The company staff mentioned that only two groups of visitors have passed through this place all year. The previous group came during the rainy season, and now it's ours.
Evenings here are quieter, with no noise except for the gentle hum of insects by your ear as you sleep. Therefore, the heartfelt conversations over intoxicating drinks with the staff seem to bring a bit more vitality and cheer.

Triệu Hải Waterfall Nestled in the Deep Mountains and Valleys
If the journey only involved conquering a few slopes, it wouldn't be memorable or worth experiencing. Hence, the group decided to add a trip to Triệu Hải Waterfall into the itinerary, looping from the company's campsite to the waterfall, rather than taking the easier route straight from the town to the waterfall.
Triệu Hải Waterfall lies deep in the mountains, within a secluded valley, making it pristine and beautiful. To reach here, you'll need to drive across a stream and walk about 200 meters. Alternatively, you can hike to explore the area. The waterfall area is spacious, suitable for setting up camp.

The waterfall stands about 30 meters tall, its water gently cascading down, not violently foaming like at Đambri or Pougour. From afar, the waterfall flows smoothly from above, gracefully, like the cascading hair of a mountain nymph.
Amidst the scorching midday sun, immersing yourself in the cool water beneath the waterfall's embrace will bring immense comfort, as if shedding life's worries. Note that visitors should leave nothing behind but footprints when visiting and departing.
From Triệu Hải Waterfall, follow the trail straight to the town and take Highway 721 back to Madagui town, concluding the two-day, one-night conquest journey.
