Mount Da Bia, also known as Mount Ong, is a mountain in the Deo Ca range, located in Hoa Xuan Nam commune, Dong Hoa district, Phu Yen province. This particular mountain is considered the symbol of Dong Hoa land because of its gigantic stone slab, towering 80 meters above the mountain peak, visible from afar. When visiting Phu Yen, challenge yourself by climbing this mountain. In this article, I'll provide you with all the essential information to make your journey easier.

Coming from the Deo Ca direction, you'll spot a massive rectangular rock on the left side, jutting into the blue sky. That's Mount Da Bia.
The Location of Mount Da Bia
Located along National Highway 1A on the Deo Ca mountain range, 23km south of Tuy Hoa city. Visiting Da Bia means exploring Deo Ca, Vung Ro bay, a region of spectacular scenic beauty.
Getting to Da Bia
From various provinces and cities, you can fly to Tuy Hoa airport and then take a taxi to the mountain. Since the mountain is very distinctive, it's easy to find. The second option is to take a train to Dong Hoa station and then travel to the mountain from there. These are the two most common options for you to consider.
The 'Worth Hearing' History of Mount Da Bia
According to historical accounts, Mount Da Bia has long been considered a sacred mountain known as Lingaparvata, meaning Linga, the great deity, the incarnation of the god Shiva in the Cham people's beliefs. This mountain is associated with many legends and myths. Notably, in 1471, during the military campaign against Champa, King Le Thanh Tong halted at the foot of the mountain, ordering soldiers to climb up and clearly carve the border marker between Dai Viet and Chiem Thanh. Perhaps for this reason, the mountain came to be known as Mount Da Bia.
Experience Conquering Mount Da Bia

In September 2008, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to recognize this unparalleled scenic beauty spot as a National-level scenic site.
From various angles, this unique mountain takes on different shapes, allowing for endless imagination. For example, when viewed from the sea, the mountain resembles a finger pointing up to the blue sky, while from Bai Xep, Da Bia looks like a person sitting down.
Not only steeped in glorious history from ancient times, Mount Da Bia is also a breathtaking scenic spot. To conquer it, you should prepare a pair of comfortable shoes and some water as you'll have to climb many steep steps. I couldn't even count them all because it was so exhausting. The climbing time is about 3-4 hours (depending on each person's health and fitness).

This is a section of the mountain path
The section of the path from the foot of the mountain to the peak of Da Bia is about 2.2km with many steep steps following the natural incline of the mountain. Along the way, you'll encounter two bridges (one hanging bridge, one standing bridge) and a steep gateway, beyond which is the summit. I exerted all my effort to conquer it and breathed a sigh of relief when I passed through the steep gateway.
As you ascend, the air becomes fresher and incredibly pure. The only thing you can do at this moment is to immerse yourself in nature and the scenery here. Throughout the journey, on both sides of the path are rows of green trees with many rare flowers, and occasionally, I even encountered some adorable insects.

Here's an adorable little boy I happened to come across
Offsetting the challenging path above is the incredibly magnificent surrounding scenery. The lush greenery seems to somewhat blur my fatigue. Don't push yourself too hard and remember to take breaks because along the way, there are occasional large rocks to rest.

In the distance, you'll see the silhouette of the villagers' fields and the vast sea
After thousands of steps, I finally reached the mountain peak. The vast expanse of sky, the immense nature unfolding before me truly overwhelmed me because who would have known that besides Ghenh Da Dia, Nhan Tower, Dien Cape, and Bai Xep, Phu Yen also has such breathtaking panoramic views like this. Looking down from the high mountain peak, you embrace the entirety of Phu Yen. The blue color of the sea, the sky, the foliage creates a very 'chill' feeling.

The scenery of Da Bia leaves nothing to be desired
After enjoying the view, don't forget the important task at hand, which is to check in with Mount Da Bia. Up close, the mountain resembles both a finger and a corncob, and the size of the stone slab is incredibly huge. Be careful when stepping away to take photos with the stone slab as we are at a high altitude compared to the sea level.

This is the legendary symbol of Mount Da Bia
The best time to climb the mountain is in the morning because abundant energy will help you easily conquer the steep steps. Additionally, beautiful sunny days will allow you to admire the full beauty of Da Bia and the land of Phu Yen.
Mount Da Bia truly stands majestic and imposing like a giant guardian, enveloping the land of Phu Yen. No matter where you go in this land, you can still catch sight of this familiar mountain. For instance, during a sunrise hunting trip in the extreme east, while boating on Van Phong bay, I also spotted Da Bia in the distance along Phu Yen's coast. It can be said that this mountain climbing journey has helped me discover a new beauty of Phu Yen that few people know. You can also explore this wonderful land with me here.
