The concerns of many tourists are not unfounded as in April, numerous coastal areas along the central region witnessed mass fish deaths. The prevailing anxiety is understandable, fearing illnesses from exposure to contaminated water. Widespread apprehension prevails.

However, on June 2, the Government announced they had identified the cause of the fish deaths and will disclose it in June. Thus, up to the present time, there has been no clear answer affirming that the cause of the fish deaths is due to contaminated seawater.
Thus, the answer to contaminated seawater remains inconclusive, with no official scientific declaration from state authorities.
