Hermione had a rather unremarkable moment with a girl locked underneath in Harry Potter.
In the fifth installment of Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, audiences were introduced to one of the most unique and intriguing characters of the entire film series. As the trio returned to Hogwarts, they officially met Luna Lovegood - the adorable blonde girl from Ravenclaw house.
At that moment, Luna was reading the Quibbler magazine upside down, then glanced up to greet everyone, especially Harry Potter. They all boarded the carriage, and this is when Hermione had a line that surprised and disappointed many viewers.

Hermione took the initiative to introduce Luna to everyone, but instead of saying her name correctly, Hermione accidentally called her 'Loony'. This was originally a nickname that Luna was often called as a form of bullying by classmates, where 'Loony' roughly means 'eccentric'.
After the slip of the tongue, the heroine of Harry Potter quickly corrected herself to Luna Lovegood. Though it seemed like a mere verbal mishap, it was enough to sadden those who once admired Hermione. Having been a student ostracized and even teased, Hermione should have understood that pain better than anyone and not spread it to others. However, she (unconsciously) called Luna by an unflattering name, leaving viewers heartbroken for her.

However, this never happened in the books. In J.K. Rowling's original work, the one who called Luna 'Loony' was actually Ginny, and she did so quite bluntly and naturally, unlike Hermione. Nevertheless, some viewers argue that Ginny was very close to Luna, so she called her that as a private joke between the two.

On the other hand, Hermione further upset Luna by referring to the Quibbler as 'rubbish', unaware that Luna's father was the editor. As a result, many viewers began to question Hermione's true character in Harry Potter, believing that she wasn't entirely good and still had many moments of annoyance and controversy. Additionally, J.K. Rowling has also shared that Luna was intentionally crafted as a 'contrast' to Hermione, with her more intuitive nature contrasting Hermione's reliance on logic.
