Cheap Flights has just unveiled a list of destinations with the most expensive and affordable taxi fares worldwide, based on pricing in 27 cities across continents.
In Europe, Berlin (Germany) claims the top spot for expensive rides. Travelers taking a taxi for a 23-minute journey will have to pay $41.96 or $3.5 per km. On the other hand, taxis in London (UK) and Barcelona (Spain) are ranked as the most affordable, with fares around $2.1/km. CheapFlights also advises travelers to Athens, Greece, to be cautious on the roads as drivers can be a bit crafty.

In South and Central America, Buenos Aires (Argentina) stands out as the most budget-friendly city for taxi rides. For a 30 km journey from Ministro Pistarini International Airport to Palermo, travelers only have to pay $9.76, equivalent to $0.3/km. The most expensive taxi rides in this region belong to San Jose (Costa Rica) at $3.1/km.
In North America, travelers arriving in Cancun (Mexico) will have to pay $2.9/km for a taxi. However, when visiting Vancouver (Canada) or New Orleans, Los Angeles (USA), the taxi fares are much cheaper, only $1.3/km.

Tokyo (Japan) takes the lead for the most expensive taxi fares in Asia. Travelers will have to pay $2.8/km, while the cost for a km in Delhi (India) is only $0.6.
When in Cairo (Egypt), you'll need to dig into your pocket and pay $0.8/km for a taxi ride, while in Harare (Zimbabwe), travelers will have to pay a fee of $2.3/km.
The cost in Sydney (Australia) is $1.5/km, while in Auckland (New Zealand), travelers will have to pay double the fare.
