Convert USB to NTFS: Switch USB to NTFS Format
Method 1: Formatting with DOS Command (Most Successfully Used)
Step 1: Open Start and type CMD in the search bar to open the DOS command window.
Step 2: The CMD window appears, enter the syntax Convert X: /fs:ntfs, where X is the USB drive partition - Press Enter and wait for the Conversion Complete message to finish.
Method 2: Format Directly within Windows
Step 1: Check if your computer allows quick formatting.
Right-click on My Computer -> select Manager.
The Computer Management window appears, choose Device Manager -> select Disk Drivers -> right-click on your USB's name and choose Properties.
Select Policies -> check Quick Removal (if already checked, it means your computer allows quick USB formatting) -> press OK.
Step 2: Open My Computer -> right-click on your USB and choose Format...
- Under File system, choose NTFS -> press Start -> press OK -> Press OK to finish.
Method 3: Format using Windows Disk Management
Step 1: Right-click on My Computer -> select Manage -> choose Disk Management.
Step 2: Right-click on your USB drive partition -> choose Format... -> select yes -> under File system, choose NTFS -> press OK.
