In the latest Bloomberg update, Mark Gurman hints that Apple's AR glasses could debut this year. Meanwhile, The Verge anticipates it to be a device of awe-inspiring features, drawing from Apple's past introductions, as its exact nature remains shrouded in mystery.

Firstly, concerning its price point, it's expected to be around $3000 with the potential name being Reality Pro. Capable of seamlessly switching between VR and AR, its software interface will resemble iOS. Apple is expanding its product lineup, aiming for success similar to the debut of the first Apple Watch in 2015, amidst Meta's dominance in the VR/AR industry.

Despite the high price and unclear market response, Bloomberg suggests that Apple has dedicated 7 years and over 1000 people to develop this device. Apple appears to be hopeful that this project will become a new source of revenue, especially as growth rates are expected to slow down this year. Although forecasts indicate that the VR/AR industry will reach a value of $100 billion by the end of the decade, Apple is also forecasted to face significant challenges as Meta has also invested billions. Therefore, Apple hopes to create something new and exciting, so what makes Apple's AR glasses appealing?

According to current rumors, Apple's AR glasses can track both hand and eye movements, thanks to cameras both inside and outside the device. Users won't need handheld controllers like Meta Quest Pro or PlayStation VR2; they just need to look at what they want to open and activate it by pinching their fingers together. Gurman also said that the device can switch between AR/VR using the Digital Crown, similar to the Apple Watch. Apple also wants better interaction between users using Reality Pro, for example when making FaceTime calls, each person wearing Reality Pro will be able to see the other person's entire body, not just their face. Apple is also looking for ways to improve video viewing on Reality Pro, such as integrating with AirPods for Spatial Audio experiences. Additionally, users can control the Mac screen displayed on the glasses via keyboard and mouse.

There are also rumors about the battery; it will have a removable battery and connect to Reality Pro via a cable, similar to Magic Leap. The battery pack will be the size of two stacked iPhone 14 Pro Max units. Gurman said Reality Pro will have a battery life of about 2 hours.

With a price tag of $3000 (twice that of Quest Pro), it's evident that Apple acknowledges it will be out of reach for many. The company expects to sell 1 million units in the first year, generating $3 billion in revenue.
