Wondering how many lines, blocks, layers, and other elements are in your current AutoCAD drawing? Let's explore how to count objects in Cad quickly and easily.
1. Counting Objects Using the Filter Command
Step 1: Type fi => press Enter.
Step 2: Click on Select Filter (1) => choose the object to count like blocks, lines, arcs...
Step 3: Click on Add to list (1) => Apply (2).
Step 4: Type All => press Enter.
Afterward, you'll see the number of objects you want to view displayed in the Command section.
2. Counting Objects with Quick Select Command
The Quick select command allows you to quickly choose objects and also use filtering tools similar to Filter. Here's how to do it:
Step 1: Type qselect => press Enter.
Step 2: In the Apply to section, leave it as Entire drawing to find objects throughout the entire drawing. Then, click on Object type (1) and select the object (2) to count.
In the example below, I'll count the number of straight lines (Line) in the drawing.
Step 3: Set the properties (Properties) you want to find such as color, layer, line type... Next, set the search type (Operators) like equal to, greater than or equal to... and finally, you need to set the value of the attribute (Value) such as Color like black, red... or Linetype like dash dot, zigzag...
In the example below, I'll find the number of black straight lines in the drawing by setting Properties as Color (1) => Operator as = Equals (2) to select the exact number => Value is black By Layer (3). Press OK (4) to start searching.
After completing the process, pay attention to the Command section below and see the data as .... item(s) selected meaning your drawing includes that many objects.
3. Counting the number of blocks with the bcount command
Step 1: Type bcount and press Enter.
Step 2: Select the area to count blocks. To count the entire drawing, zoom out and select the whole drawing.
Step 3: Press Enter for the software to calculate and provide statistics for you.
You can check the number of blocks in the command section, but press the F2 key to view the Command section in a new window for easier observation. Here, you can grasp the names of the blocks and the number of similar block objects in the drawing.
