1. Based on the excerpt from the play 'In the Kingdom of the Future' (reading exercise week 7), retell the story in chronological order.
Answer:
The story revolves around Tin-tin and Mi-tin, bestowed with magical powers by a fairy. The two friends overcome numerous challenges, exploring different lands to find the Blue Bird to cure a friend in their village. Among the places they visit, one stands out - the land of inventions and upcoming friends in the Kingdom of the Future.
Firstly, the two friends decide to explore the green workshop. They approach a child and inquire about their activity. The child explains that they are creating a machine that, when completed, will use these wings to create an object that brings happiness to humans. Mi-tin curiously asks if the object is tasty and noisy. The child assures Mi-tin that the machine is not noisy, and it's about to be finished. Tin-tin eagerly responds,
- Yes, I do! Where is it?
At that moment, another child showcases their invention: thirty vials of life-prolonging elixir in green bottles. Simultaneously, a third child steps forward, claiming to have discovered a peculiar light never seen before. The fourth child pulls Tin-tin's hand, inviting him to see their flying machine, while the fifth child brags about a treasure-seeking device for the moon.
Leaving the green workshop, Tin-tin and Mi-tin head to the magical garden. A child approaches with a bunch of fruits on a stick, and Tin-tin marvels, '‘The pear bunch is beautiful!” The child smiles, correcting Tin-tin that they are grapes. It was the child who figured out how to plant and care for them. Another child comes forward, holding a basket of fruits as big as watermelons. Mi-tin assumes they are red pumpkins and asks, '‘Red pumpkins, right?’’ The child clarifies that they are not red pumpkins but apples, and even those are not the largest. Tin-tin, still surprised, then encounters a child pushing a cart full of fruits and boasts about their produce. Tin-tin says they have never seen such strange red squashes. The child corrects that they are not red squashes but melons. When they are born, they will plant melons as big as that!
2. Assuming the two characters Tin-tin and Mi-tin in the story 'In the Kingdom of the Future' did not visit the green workshop and magical garden together sequentially, each visiting a different place at the same time. Record the story in that direction (spatial sequence).
Answer:
Mi-tin goes to visit the magical garden. Seeing a child carrying a bunch of fruits on a stick, Mi-tin compliments: '‘The pear bunch is beautiful!” The child corrects that it's not pears but grapes. The child had come up with a way to plant and care for them. The second child brings a basket of fruits, and Mi-tin thinks they are red pumpkins. The child clarifies that they are apples, and even those are not the largest. The third child then pushes forward a cart full of fruits that Mi-tin mistook for strange red squashes. The child corrects that they are not red squashes but melons. When they are born, they will plant melons as big as that!
While Mi-tin is at the magical garden, Tin-tin visits the green workshop. Seeing a child with a machine with green wings, Tin-tin asks what the child is doing. The child explains that when they are born, they will use these wings to create an object that makes humans happy. The child also asks Tin-tin if they want to see the machine, as it's almost finished. Tin-tin excitedly agrees. At that moment, another child showcases thirty vials of life-prolonging elixir. The third child steps forward with a peculiar light. The fourth child pulls Tin-tin to see their flying machine, and the fifth child brags about a treasure-seeking device for the moon.
