Among the poems 'Mother' (by Đỗ Trung Lai), 'Old Philosopher' (by Vũ Đình Liên), 'Noon Rooster's Cry' (by Xuân Quỳnh), which poem do you like the most? Why?
Hello, teacher and classmates, I would like to present my speech below.
Among the poems 'Mother' (by Đỗ Trung Lai), 'Old Philosopher' (by Vũ Đình Liên), and 'Noon Rooster's Cry' (by Xuân Quỳnh), I am most impressed by the poem 'Noon Rooster's Cry'. The poem evokes deep emotions about the grandmother-grandchild relationship.

Firstly, we can see throughout the poem the nostalgic, stirring emotions of the grandchild upon hearing the sound of the rooster crowing, awakening memories of childhood with the grandmother. With just the sound of the noon rooster, childhood memories with the grandmother are brought back to life in the child's heart through endearing images. The grandmother, intimate, familiar, loving, and caring for the child, is portrayed through details such as 'Grandma's hands boil eggs/ Savors each carefully picked one', 'Grandma worries about the flock at dusk/ Praying skies remain free of salt mist/ So that at year's end, she can sell the chickens/ And the child can have new clothes'. Grandma loves the child so she tends to the flock of chickens so the child can have new clothes at the end of the year, igniting hopes of childhood. The sound of the noon rooster leaves imprints of memories of the grandmother in the heart, making the soldier inevitably moved, longing, and loving the grandmother even more. The feelings of longing, love, and respect for the grandmother have turned into strength for the soldier to fight for national independence 'I fight today/ For love of the Motherland/ For the familiar village/ Oh Grandma, also for you/ For the crowing of the rooster/ And the nest of childhood'.
The grandmother-grandchild relationship in the poem reminds me of the sacred family bond that I need to cherish. The poem prompts me to reflect on my own grandmother, becoming increasingly affectionate, respectful, and appreciative of the memories with her.
Thank you, teacher and classmates, for listening!
