Crafting a Tale: Witnessed or Participated, Week 13
Solution Guide:
Question 1 (page 127 Vietnamese textbook 5): Choose one of the following topics:
1. Narrate a commendable environmental action by yourself or those around you.
2. Tell about a courageous act to protect the environment.
Answer:
Being a cultural neighborhood, environmental protection in the residential area where I reside is highly regarded by everyone. The neighborhood is always clean and tidy. Children refrain from using vulgar language. There is no altercation among adults. Everyone advises each other to maintain order, security, and live in harmony. Therefore, last Sunday morning, as previously announced, I, along with my parents and relatives in the neighborhood, participated in making the main road into An Hung Cultural Neighborhood 'green and clean.'
Dreamy, before the sunrise, people were already bustling, gathering at the entrance of the neighborhood. Everyone had work tools in their hands and a very ready posture: 'Let's proceed, folks, lest we get tired when the sun rises!'. Then, according to the assignment by the neighborhood leader, everyone enthusiastically got to work right away. Everyone was cheerful, chatting, asking each other questions, as everyone had been busy all week and seldom had leisure time. The sound of rakes turning over weeds. The sound of brooms sweeping the floor to collect rubbish in one place. The sound of young footsteps briskly, all together formed lovely, adorable sounds. There were some elderly ladies and gentlemen who still participated in labor very enthusiastically, both cleaning and encouraging their grandchildren to join in and complete tasks diligently. Being young like us, we collected various types of rubbish, pulled out weeds... and piled them up to be burnt or dumped into public garbage bins. For the past few days, it has been raining continuously, causing weeds along the road to grow rapidly, and we quickly pulled them all out. A section of the road was eroded by rainwater, causing it to become muddy, with the soil washing away, forming puddles of water. I participated with the young adults, using shovels and hoes to fill it up again, then pouring in the green stones that were purchased with contributions from the neighborhood residents. The pants rolled up higher than the knees, the bare hands sticky with mud, the bright smiles of everyone working. All of it formed a beautiful image of a Cultural Neighborhood. Seeing that warm scene, I became even more fond and proud of my neighborhood, considering it as a shining example of environmental protection spirit.
In no time, the pathway became tidier and smoother. Witnessing the joyful faces of everyone, I gained a deeper understanding of the value of the task I just partook in. I silently vowed to always be an active member, a pioneer in safeguarding the clean, beautiful environment.
