Writing Exercise: Describing Scenery, Example 1
Scenario 1: Describing a Morning in the Flower Park.
Student's Composition
One beautiful spring morning, my parents took me to the flower park. The whole garden seemed immersed in the warm atmosphere of spring.
I tiptoed... The spring breeze gently swayed the delicate petals in the breeze. The vibrant flowers basked in the golden spring sunlight. Countless butterflies flitted around like they were dancing to greet the sun. The fragrance of roses wafted gently in the air. I delicately held a rose bud in my hands. Its petals were as soft as velvet, adorned with morning dewdrops. The glistening dewdrops sparkled under the sunlight. The entire garden swayed in the wind.
I sat beside my parents, gazing up at the sky. The spring sky was as blue as a gigantic sapphire. Fluffy white clouds drifted lazily. I took a deep breath of the fresh air and looked into the distance. In the vast sky, thousands of swallows soared gracefully, weaving a tapestry of white and gold in the sky. Ah! Spring is truly wonderful. I could hear the melodious chirping of birds perched on branches welcoming the spring. Their song seemed to say: 'Oh! Spring is so beautiful. Spring brings joy and vitality.' Under the warm spring sun, I felt as if I could hear the sound of saplings growing, bringing forth a powerful life force.
There was a little girl frolicking on the grassy field. She embraced the flowers, giggling and singing joyfully. The innocent laughter echoed. Many other children were playing happily with their parents. The flower garden was next to the pond. The clear water reflected the sky. The gentle waves shimmered on the surface, making the pond gleam like gold. The wind whispered softly, rustling the leaves. The flowers swayed, and the hair fluttered.
The park scene was truly beautiful. Even as I left, I felt a sense of nostalgia...
Scenario 2: Describing a Rainstorm
Student's Composition
The sun was shining brightly when suddenly, from the horizon, dark clouds began to gather. Moments later, the sky darkened, signaling an impending rainstorm.
The patter of raindrops on the roofs echoed. Rain poured down onto the streets, flooding the courtyard. Raindrops cascaded over banana leaves. Lemon trees and grapefruit trees in the garden huddled as if to protect their swaying clusters. Bamboo groves, coconut clusters swayed as if they were bending, dancing in the rain.
A torrential rain poured down, halting all activities. The land became shrouded in mist amidst the rain. Water cascaded from the roofs, drops as big as fingertips falling in long streaks. The trees joyfully bathed after days of scorching heat. The foliage gleamed with vibrant green hues.
Rain splattered against windows, drumming on the rooftops. It's truly refreshing and delightful to watch the rain!
The hot air was dispelled by the breeze and rainwater, making the atmosphere cool and pleasant. The landscape brimmed with life.
Moments later, the rain dwindled to a drizzle before ceasing altogether. The sunlight burst forth, illuminating the tree canopies and lush green carpets. The sky cleared up, vast and profound. Young birds hopped on the branches, chirping joyfully as if welcoming the change in weather. Mother hens led their chicks in search of food around the garden. Occasionally, the tiny chicks would hop around and chirp happily.
After the rain, the scenery, the foliage, the grass and trees seemed to don a new coat. More shoots sprouted from the trees. The garden was laden with fruits. The air was fresh and cool. The sky of our homeland was dreamily blue. The landscape appeared rejuvenated. People felt more relaxed and comfortable.
Scenario 3: Describing My Home
Student's Composition
My family resides in a small brick house nestled along the provincial highway, in the outskirts of the town. This is where I was born and raised.
It's a cozy little brick house surrounded by a spacious garden, enclosed on all sides by lush hedge rows, flourishing in both sunny and rainy seasons.
Just stepping through the wooden door leads into the cool, verdant embrace of my home garden. Inside is a wide cement pathway flanked by a garden bed bursting with colorful flowers.
My humble home consists of three lime-washed rooms with tiled roofs. The central space is the main living area, with two wide doors always open. Upon entering, you'll find the living room furnished with polished wooden furniture. Against the wall sits the elegant Gò Công altar, made of beautiful rosewood, adorned with a lamp stand and a brass incense burner, radiating solemnity and reverence. To the right is a spacious shelf. Next to the window are the glass cabinet, sewing table, and television. In the small corner to the left is my father's writing desk. Nearby is a long table, our tidy study corner where we siblings gather. Following is the guest area and our family's conversation spot after every evening. Adorning the walls are several tasteful and captivating paintings. Inside are two airy, spacious bedrooms. Each room has a glass wardrobe for clothes and a wide bed for sleeping. Lastly, there's the dining room and kitchen. Despite the various utensils, my mother's meticulous organization ensures everything looks neat and tidy.
Though my home may be small, it holds an immeasurable place in my heart, where I receive abundant love like the deep ocean from my parents.
